How long is the agreement?

The agreement is initially for 18 months. If you wish to terminate it, you must give My Patch two months’ written notice, sent to our registered address.

How secure is the site?

The site is enclosed by extensive 6-foot fencing, reinforced with 3-foot chicken wire. This is intended to help deter deer, rabbits and foxes.

We are committed to maintaining the fencing, so please report any wildlife entering the site. My Patch will then investigate and repair or improve the fencing where necessary.

Why do I have to pay a deposit?

The deposit helps secure your plot and contributes towards the cost of preparing it. Under normal circumstances, the deposit is non-refundable.

However, after completing the initial 18-month agreement, the deposit may be returned at My Patch’s discretion, provided all terms and conditions have been met.

Is there water on site?

Yes. The site has a mains water supply and three water stations. The two lower water stations are turned off during the winter months.

Can I pay the deposit in instalments?

Yes, in certain circumstances. You will need to provide evidence that you are unable to pay the deposit in full.

Are there toilets on site?

No. We no longer provide toilet facilities.

How much notice do I have to give to leave?

Your initial agreement lasts for 18 months. To leave at the end of the agreement, you must provide two months’ written notice.

If you need to leave before the end of the agreement, you may be able to find someone to take over your plot. This will be subject to approval, completion of the agreement and payment of a new deposit.

Can I keep chickens on my plot?

Yes, but you must arrange for your plot to be adequately fenced. You may do this yourself, provided the work complies with your agreement, or you can ask My Patch for a quotation.

Can I pay the deposit by cheque?

Yes. Please send your cheque with a completed agreement, clearly stating the plot you wish to reserve.

If the plot has already been reserved through the website, we will contact you to choose another available plot. Please note that prices shown online may be website-only offers.

Can I put up a shed or water butt?

Yes, but everything must remain within the boundaries of your plot.

Sheds or storage buildings must be of a good standard and must not exceed 150 cm wide × 90 cm deep × 120 cm high. This helps minimise the loss of light to neighbouring plots.

You may apply to install a taller or larger structure, but this will be subject to approval and consultation with neighbouring plot holders.

Can I make monthly payments by cheque or cash?

No. Monthly payments must be set up through our website or by verified standing order. A verified standing order means that My Patch has received confirmation that it has been set up.

Can I look around the site before renting a plot?

How will I know which plot is mine?

Within 24 hours of reserving your plot, a sign showing your name and plot number will normally be displayed at the front of the plot.

Can I rent a plot for the summer months only?

No. Our rental agreements are currently for 18 months, with two months’ notice required to leave.

Can I buy a plot?

After completing an 18-month agreement with My Patch, and provided there have been no issues with your tenancy, you may make an offer to buy your plot.

My Patch intends to retain a substantial proportion of the plots, so availability will be limited and prices will reflect the value of the land.

How soon can I rent a plot?

We aim to prepare your welcome pack, contract and plot details within 48 hours of receiving payment.
